Free-standing Sculpture

Freestanding sculptures, as the name suggests, are stand-alone objects that can be seen from all angles and can be walked around or turned in the hand, depending on their size. With free-standing sculpture, because it is not part of a wall or other flat surface, it is also possible to have works that have moving parts or are designed to interact with the viewer in some way. Free-standing sculpture is meant to be seen from all sides. A classic example of Free-standing are the statues.

The other kind of sculpture is Relief sculpture; which is meant to be seen from only one side and it can be low or high relief. Relief sculpture are at least partly attached to a background surface.
